Scott Cohen, MD, FAAP
SCOTT W. COHEN, MD, FAAP, is a board certified pediatrician who has created a new philosophy in pediatrics that he calls COMMON SENSE PARENTING, where he educates patients and families on how to raise healthy children-stress free. This philosophy will be featured in his upcoming book Eat, Sleep, Poop: A Complete Common Sense Guide to Your Baby’s First Year, to be published by Scribner, a division of Simon and Schuster in April, 2010.
Scott is originally from Maryland and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from Cornell University. He received his Medical Degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine. Dr. Cohen completed his pediatric residency at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles in June 2003, where he was the recipient of the Victor E. Stork Award for Continued Excellence and Future Promise in the Care of Children. He was also awarded the Community Service Award for developing Helping Hands for Children, a curriculum which teaches pediatricians to effectively advocate for the needs of children.
Dr. Cohen is currently an attending physician and active member of the teaching staff at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. He was the recipient of the 2005 Cedars Sinai Medical Center Physician Recognition Award in Pediatrics and was named the 2006 Cedars Sinai Pediatrician of the Year. Cohen recently opened her orthodontic practice: Beverly Hills Orthodontics.
Dr. Cohen and his wife recently welcomed their daughter, Aubrey Grace, on March 31st, 2008. Aubrey weighed 8 pounds and was 21 inches long.
Bess Raker, MD, FAAP
Bess is a board certified pediatrician who is committed to educating parents about the healthy care of her young patients. She is particularly interested in newborns and first-time parents.
Dr. Raker enjoys the deeply personal relationships she has with all of her families and is honored to be such an integral part of their lives.
Dr. Raker is involved in numerous community activities – she especially enjoys serving on the Board for Beads of Courage, a unique program designed to honor the challenging journey that children with cancer and their parents must embark upon beginning with the diagnosis.
Dr. Raker is also involved with LA Diaper Drive, serving those in her community who are less fortunate. Dr. Raker completed her pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where she treated patients with a wide spectrum of medical conditions.
She received her medical degree from University of Arizona. Dr. Raker graduated as a Dean's Distinguished Graduate from University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Dr. Raker is thrilled to open Beverly Hills Pediatrics with Dr. Scott Cohen in Beverly Hills, California.
Anna Ward, MD, FAAPAnna Ward MD, FAAP , is a board certified pediatrician who is very excited to join the staff at Beverly Hills Pediatrics. Anna is originally from Boston, Mass. She graduated Magnum cum laude from Colby College in Waterville, Maine. She received her MD from Rosalind Franklin Univ/ Chicago Medical School where she met her husband and was a National Health scholar. Dr. Ward completed her pediatric residency at Vermont Children’s Hospital in June 2006. She and her family then moved to the Navajo Indian Reservation in Chinle, AZ where she and her husband worked as physicians for the Indian Health Service for three years.
Dr. Anna recently moved to Los Angeles with her husband and two daughters, Grace and Margaret ages 4 and 2. Her husband is an oncology fellow at UCLA. They are enjoying the conveniences of city and being much closer to family.
Dr. Anna enjoys teaching parents about normal child development and how to keep kids healthy, happy, and safe. Her interests include childhood obesity, adolescent medicine, and children with special needs. She also works as a general pediatrician at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles where she enjoys taking care of children with a wide range of challenging medical disorders.
